The PATHERN Project, proposes a novel approach to improve Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) treatment through a combination of artificial intelligence (AI) and multiplex image analysis. Recognizing the limitations of current TNBC care, which often overlooks the role of Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocytes (TILs), the project aims to enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment efficacy. By developing a comprehensive open repository of breast cancer biopsy images and deploying deep learning algorithms to analyze these images, the project seeks to accurately estimate TILs and other predictive markers for all newly diagnosed TNBC patients in the Netherlands. The final goal is to integrate these advancements into clinical settings, offering clinicians a powerful tool for personalizing chemo- and immunotherapy treatments for TNBC patients, thereby significantly impacting patient care and outcomes.
